A collection of resources for understanding sickle cell trait (SCT).
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Society of Hematology (ASH), and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA) have co-created the Sickle Cell Trait Toolkit, a collection of educational materials on SCT.
The resources include information for people diagnosed with SCT and healthcare providers. For patients, there’s recommendations for screenings, facts about SCT and its effects, and tips for living with SCT. For providers, the toolkit includes tips for treating patients and information about related medical needs.
Currently, there are fact sheets, tips and infographics about SCT as it relations to the spleen, vision health, diabetes and more. The CDC, ASH and the SCDAA will add more resources in the future, addressing new topics and healthcare matters related to SCT.
